Well, sometimes there are plucky irish and scots, or indeed (once) the welsh. But his time no distractions of the "well, we got thu the groups stages but let's spend a moment to commiserate with the etc etc".

We can simply bathe in our own misery, when it comes. Even if it's next year as in 1967, getting beat by scotland.

Ok i'm a cynic. 40 years for crissakes...

Heard on the radio recently, "Lineker's Law".
"A world cup is where a lot of different teams play each other, then Germany wins."

Given that the home team wins more than 50% of the time (I just made that up) it must be a dead cert this year.

My kids assure me that Germany are cra p. Also, apparently paraguay's best players isn't a first team player. Oh yes, Engerland an absolute cert, according to them....

Anyway I don't think it was lineker who said that first, I think it might have been a German....
