Suzuki DF2.5 Float Full of a Liquid

After researching glues I'm taking VicS's advice. I've found an OMC Johnson Evinrude "equivalent" p/n (5037232) that's ex stock in UK for a fraction of the price of the Suzuki part.

Suzuki DF2.5 Float Full of a Liquid

Further update : Araldite did not stick to the plastic float off my only 4 year old engine. I thought I had removed all traces of petrol and also roughed up the surface. Now off to see what Halfords/Screwfix/ Toolstation can offer. Any recommendations would be very welcome. Thank you again.

Suzuki DF2.5 Float Full of a Liquid

Thank you for your helpful ideas. Update : Using a variation on the NDT dye penetrant technique (wife's talc) I've found a tiny hairline "crack", about 4mm long causing the leak. My plan now is to drill 2 small holes, drain the fuel and then seal the holes and the crack with Araldite to get...

Thank you Poecheng. All Agents are telling me there is nil stock in UK for a float. 4 to 6 weeks delivery from Japan. Crazy. Can anyone recommend any repair techniques please? TIA again.

Suzuki DF2.5 Float Full of a Liquid

My carburettor is constantly flooding as if the float operated needle valve is not closing. On dismantling I see that the plastic float is almost full of a clear liquid (petrol?). But I can't find any leaks. Is it normal for the float to have liquid inside? TIA

    Single Handed Reefing

How do I stop the luff cringle dropping out of the rams head before I scramble back to the cockpit to put some tension the mainsail halyard? On my Contessa 26 the halyard emerges from the mast at about 3 meters above deck level, then passes through a swivel block at the mast base organiser, then...

    Autohelm Jitters

Thank you for your reply. I've used it on the boat for the past 3years at mid set sensitivity. I lowered the sensitivity to see if it had any effect on the jitters. It didn't.

    Autohelm Jitters

Thank you for your help. I should have added that it is set at lowest sensitivity.

    Autohelm Jitters

My Navico TP100 has developed the jitters. On the boat and on the bench with a good 12v supply, when in auto mode, the pushrod constantly moves in and out in apparently random short strokes. It only stops if I grab the unit and hold it perfectly still. It's as if the pushrod is responding to all...

    Empty Chain Locker

Why do some owners empty their chain locker onto the ground (often on a pallet) in front of their yachts during winter storage? In the yard I'm in some do, some don't. What is the reasoning?

    Suzuki DF2.5 issue

Another cause of low or no compression is bent conrod caused by hydraulic lock from oil getting into cylinder during handling. Was the first pull of the cord harder than usual? I notice this after my DF2. 5 has been laid (correctly) on its side for a time.

    Removing Stuck Key from Keyway

Thank you for your replies. A combination of Poignard's and Dantp's suggestions worked!

    Removing Stuck Key from Keyway

Now I've removed the coupling from the gearbox end of the propshaft, next hurdle to enable me to remove the shaft from the boat, is removing the key the from the shaft where the coupling was located. It's a straight key, not woodruff, approximately 4mm x 40mm. The keyway stops short of the end...

    Fuel Filter Replacement

Is it best to replace at the start of my boat's 6 months winter ashore or at the end (I'm thinking if at the start then diesel bugs can party in it over the winter - but I could be thinking nonsense as usual)?
