Well easy question really, are there any insurance companies left in the UK that dont ask for a survey for a GRP boat 50 years old. I can get TP with no survey but not FC.
Hi all, welcome to the new year.
I am not far off launching my boat and besides the survey needed by all insurances companies now, never needed one before and always had boat well over 25 years old. I see moorings have gone up. More on inland waters as with CRT and will be rising by 25% in...
Same old thread on these crappy set ups, the units are ok but you still need to spend around £200 on proper fittings. unless you are ok with these truely rubbish accessories.
Hi Anthony
Welcome over.
To get a hull thickness check you need to get it lifted out as its mainly below the waterline, or just about below to be checked. Thats the worst area for corrosion. And still you need to get the lot checked on these old boats. otherwise you mat well waste a lot more...
As i was saying. If you bought all parts needed for a marine set up if the heater does not contain whats needed for a safe fitting then it then no problem with the cheap ones. Its down to the fitter. Even an Eber marine kit can be fitted wrong.
Its down to the person doing the work and if they...
Inland waterways you need a BSC and as we know there are no such thing for sea going craft.
To fit a stove, either wood of multifuel you dont need and requirements to do so for inland raft. Less so i would think for sea going. Aswell with LPG, you can do all your own but advised to get it...
Question about thee kits as some folk think that its the units. I am dam sure its the person fitting it. I have seen some totally stupid questions on fitting the chinese ones from folk that in need to ask the question should not be fitting one at all.
If a chap bought a Marine Erber kit and...
My god all this talk over drilling holes in GRP. All i have ever done is mark out, small pilot drill mark wit say a 6mm bit, drill to 14mm for a 12.7mm bolt. counter sink from the top for sealant spread. then use a large SS backing plate, if flat above then a good few inch larger than the...
Would not be a problem at all. here is a file of dimensions which i think you will be ok but check headroom aswell as draught. You may need to remove any keels or skegs if you have any.

Its a tough one nowadays, Facebook Marketplace is full of scammers and idiots. besides Facebook run by idiots.

I seem to have got into a good subject here with so many replies. Just spent a time reading all replies, some being way over my head and price lol.
I have been thinking and reckon i should double the budget. The Bin`s are not needed untill next year anyway so T said she will buy me some boating...
Blimey tech stuff then, `Autofocus` and built in compass. Not going to make this any easier now.
Maybe worth going a bit more on the budget to £100.
What would you folk say i best look at for in zoom thingy as in 7x50 or 8x40.
All i an think for use will be way points and animal spotting...
I think they would be very handy. T is asking what i want for Christmas and i just want things for the boat and all i can think of that is in the budget, i hope is a pair of Binoculars. Budget being around £60 for them.
Will that get a half decent pair? i see they vary a great deal in price...
