Holidaymakers are being warned not to get caught out by the "passport 10 year rule" which can ruin EU travel plans.
Holidaymakers going to EU caught out by...
This 8mm galvanised chain was fine in the manual Lofrans windlass but when I upgraded to a Lofrans electric windlass last year, it did a jump on the gypsy. It might have been purely because I only have about 80 degree turn around the gypsy and the electric runs rather fast. No idea...
Is it like this in every marina in the Solent right now?
I'm just wondering if it's worth moving to a 'cleaner' marina.
On second thoughts.. Does anyone think that bringing the cats to the boat could keep the birds away?

I was just watching a YouTube video on 2 stroke outboards and when it came to the part that showed the chap filling the outboard from a gallon can, I thought what a great spout. It was push button to start/stop pouring.
With my current tender outboard, a Yamaha F6CMH 4-stroke, the internal...
Back in 2013, the flare requirements were a full RORC pack which included 4 parachute rockets, 4 red handheld, 2 buoyant smokes and 4 white handheld flares (as well as what's already packed within the liferaft)..
This year, the requirement seems to have reduced somewhat and is now just 4 red...
Since I bought my last RORC flare pack the regulations for Cat 2 Monohull appear to have removed the requirement for parachute flares...
Floating smoke flares also appear to have disappeared from the requirement.

Just installing a new Wind generator and associated HRDi controller.
Requirement is for 4mm sq cables (as short as possible) from controller to battery and inline fuse to each battery as well.

I'm just planning a trip across to Cherbourg for this coming bank holiday weekend and I'm sure I recall someone here recently saying there are some sort of works in the area near the marina that need to be left well clear.
