Sailed to Netherlands with a retired Farmer friend many years ago. Mid-summer so I had a new bottle of sun tan cream.
However, for a change, I read the directions which said that one must shower and 'exfoliate'. Neither of us had a clue what this meant and no dictionary to hand (pre internet...
Sorry to hear you are missing your Dutch Trip, Speedy recovery indeed MoodySabre.
( Have yet to use the dinghy, but thanks for your trouble in delivering). Cheers, MalcolmPianoAldeburgh
In desperation you could lever the hinge near the offending screw with a screwdriver. That would either pull the screw out enough to grab it with pliers etc or if thin metal pull the hinge off the screw head. If done carefully any marks in the wood will be covered by new hinge. Maybe a small...
I was considering asking the exact same question as the OP did 4 years ago but reading the hilarious and honestly useless answers received I am swayed towards spending the extra £30 on the Jabsco original from local Seamark Nunn.
However, curiosity as it is, I wondered if anyone had actually...
Soaked in bath of Vanish Gold for 3 days. Rinsed 3 times in warm water. Transported to rotary clothes drier in large plastic sack. Came up a treat. (I will add that I rarely bathe, shower preferred and I am not married, no comment).
I suppose its impossible to come to a conclusion as perhaps there are many variables.
From this discussion I agree with some that clear CT1 works but peels off after a couple of years.
I have now decided to go for one contributors solution and try Screwfix for Dow 791.
Don't please advise me to...
No one mentioned a hot air gun? As well as an impact screwdriver of coarse.
I have released 100 year old woodscrews with the heat from a soldering iron.
Would not these sinkers rapidly become covered in shingle and literally sink? I doubt they would just sit ontop of it.
Also hitting a shingle bank at 8 knots would surely cause as much damage as hitting a sinker weight? Possibly also a little foolhardy to sail into the river at 8 knots?
Cygnet was an old friend and was sailing the East Coast singlehanded out of Snape Maltings up to a couple of years ago.
I have had the privilege of helming myself. A great boat that needs getting back into shape.
This by coincidence popped up on my Facebook. Probably not what the OP was after but I found it
interesting so decided to share.

Did you try Caravan sites? This one is 280 X 280mm.
Edit. No its not, sorry. But I have looked at a lot of caravan and motorhome sites for myself in the past.
Doesn't give instil much confidence in their examination skills judging by the second picture down.
What is the technician on the left bending over and looking for? Dropped a missing link?
( the chief seems to be examining a pair of knickers )? Sorry to lower the tone.
There are families that go back a few hundred years still hanging on in the roads that the tourists don't even know exist.
Aldeburgh to most visitors (by car) is a rapid drive to a parking space near the shops in the High Street or a brief walk with a view of the sea. Bit sad really.
I have to tell you that it is still very much alive and well in my part of Suffolk. Talk to the second- Coxswain of the Lifeboat.
Talk to any locals out of the tourist areas. Perhaps, I admit, it is the over 50's generally but it is still very much alive and natural in pockets of East Suffolk. I...
