    What is this?

Not what I said. If we accept the opinions up thread that it's from a large ship, used to report contacts, then reports of aircraft contacts might also be required.

    What is this?

Perhaps for reporting aircraft? If aircraft are transiting quickly, it would be easier to report by compass sector, rather than a clear bearing.

Isn't that for Fawley Meadows? Your favoured spot sounds like it's on Copas' frontage. Read the bottom of this page: Moorings during Henley Royal Regatta - COPAS

    Crew sought Clyde area

Is it worth contacting HMNB? See if there is a sailor/spouse interested? There is not much to do there at the weekends.

How to deal with helpful people?

"That's kind. We have a plan, but perhaps you could standby a mo should it go wrong." That way you have been polite, not committed to the instant spring, but neither have you dismissed the person should you need them on another occasion.

    PS. Medway Queen.

Seven runs is an impressive record, especially the rear-guard evacuation. It's disappointing that the log does not record how many passengers she put ashore on each occasion.

    Heading into the Thames

I'm not sure I understand your question. If you are asking how far up the river that you can expect a "push" then the answer is Richmond. There are two caveats: a) When there is a significant fluvial flow from the upper reaches the river tends not to flood as strongly as predicted. b) Perfect...

    Piled moorings

I recognise you are having contradictory advice (welcome to the internet!!) but my concept would be these. Takes away stowing and towing problem, and you can have fender socks made to suit. Inflatable Boat Fenders Easy Store

    Piled moorings

I'd go for size, rather than quantity. Three/four good sized inflatable fenders, suspended diagonally. The toe-rails may be at more risk than the topsides. Oh, and good springs. All advice is probably null and void, having not seen either boat! :-)

    junior lifejacket

Weight is the primary factor. Chest size next. Understand, like all children's clothes, that it will need replacing as he grows. In addition, make sure that he has a practice with it. Children are taught to swim on their fronts. He has to understand that the lifejacket will turn him on his...

Visiting Henley for traditional boat festival.

Sadly not, those berths are retained for workboats supporting the event. @Mataji Try booking in Mill Meadows, adjacent to the park and museum. These berths are owned by Henley Town Council, and can be booked. Moorings | Henley-on-Thames Town Council You can then take advantage of the free...

    RYA rudeness

I was in the vicinity of the RYA HQ recently. The new logo on the oitside of the building is a (loose) quadrant of blue and green. Nothing that suggests yachting or boating; yes, they have retained the three letters in the middle but, otherwise, no indication of being the maritime lead that...

Which telescopic ladder for boat access on the hard?

Not telescopic, but folding. Doubles as a drying rack or tool table on those days one is working on the outer part of the hull. https://www.toolstation.com/werner-12-way-aluminium-combination-ladder
