    Flood coming

Cripes, just driven to work through the worse flooding I have ever seen in my area of South Oxfordshire, and none of the water was in the river! With the forecast for more rain today and tomorrow we are in for a record new level I fear.

    Sterling Power Split Charge Diodes

I've had 2 of these fail on me now in 2 years, anybody else had problems? Mine is the smallest 70A version, the alternator is a 60A unit so there is 10A headroom as Sterling recommend. I have a starter battery and 2 domestics of about 50Ah's each. On the first unit the diode to the domestics...

    A sad sight.

Well I know some of us like to have the occasional moan about Narrowboats on the river, but I wouldn't wish this on anybodys pride and joy: I went down on friday to check on my boat as the river was dropping, and the NB behind me was caught on a submerged shelf on its mooring. Unfortunately...

    Unmanned Locks.

Went out yesterday for a very pleasant run up to Abingdon, arrived at Clifton lock and no lockkeeper, everybody hand winding the lock. There was an unmanned sign up but no sign of the keeper, occoured to me for a minute that he might be on the weir and in trouble, but no another boater had been...
