Very happy too. I got a bit gun-shy from the last post, and didn't want to bother people with stuff. But yes, it's a real dream. I love it. And it's cool to think that maybe this little guy will get to bob around the ocean with us on our beast of a project one day. :)
Possibly moving again soon. :)
Seriously though about selling her after all her engines and machinery were kindly overhauled.
Just can't do it.
The adage is partly true: happiest day of my life was the day I first drove this boat (not bought it - that was surreal).
But that's been trumped...
It's also the same age as me, and 10 years younger than my boat.
But much shinier. And would look cool in a she'd for the next 50 years. You know... "My first jet".. lols.
:)
There's a bit. It was to fly between Kiribati, Tuvalau, Tonga, Samoa, Nauru, American Samoa ... 12 countries across the Pacific where there aren't regulator scheduled flights. This one can carry 9.
Charter is circa $200k USD for a month, plus fuel. For us, it's a nice thing. Kind of like...
She's safely in Riga now. Not sure why the positioning stopped. Maybe is was after the last privacy conflict here. :) Maybe the GDPR kicked in, and doesn't make it so public anymore. Heheheehe.
The thrusters are direct drive from 800hp Volvo's. Each.
The thrusters are ducted, 360° swivel units from schottel. So I should call them forward and center thrusters. The bow-thruster is new, that a tunnel drive for lateral force only. The forward and center thrusters draw an additional 2.2m...
It's chugging along at about 8-9 knots...
Nice and safe for the first trip in a long while...!
That's okay. But it's not like a destroyer, or one of the fast patrol boats we had lined up that could actually do 30+ knots. I'm really excited, that the big boat is actually going to be parked next...
Thanks Lloyd,
See you over at FlatEarth.com :encouragement:
For the readers still here, I'm just asking people to be a little careful, please. I'm keen to share, but not more than I'm comfortable with. I don't mean to offend anyone, but ships and planes are tracked everywhere - and posting...
We'll see. The up front price tag isn't the major hurdle. I need it for about 200-500 hours of flight time over the next 9-18 months, so it may work out. Just out a holding deposit on it while she gets her inspections done. But for now, is it okay if we be a little more discrete about actual...
It is not me.. it's the website.
I can't upload any more, I've reached my limit.
I'm going to get someone to build a ship's website. So I don't have this any more. But I kind of like the forum. So I keep coming back.
It's likely now, (eye roll), that we'll do a month in Riga, and make a run...
Excellent.
Got lovely new pics of the departure, thanks to marine traffic.
And some nice pics if her going under the suspension bridge at Copenhagen. :)
Good progress so far.
:)
