    Ryobi 18v 5amp battery

Not sure I understand the question or what you are doing. Charging any battery is never 100% efficient, what you get out is always less than you put in. Which battery charger are you using?

Replacing pulleys in gooseneck fitting on Dehler 36 CWS

Yes. I'd say it is a tube flared at the end as well. Drill one end with a bit the same diameter as the OD of the tube and drive out. Replace with a stainless rod either threaded at both ends and fixed with Nyloc nuts or drill a small hole through each end and secure with split pins, use...

    Boat names unsuitable for radio

My son reminded me it wasn't "Jazzy Jellyfish" but "Jolly Jellyfish" that was trying to claim right of way over a fishing boat. We were on a long beat to Lands End and JJ was trying to stay on her tack. The taciturn fishing boat skipper reminded them that as he was fishing he had right of way.

Film Locations in Great Expectations (1946)

I've often wondered how the families of deceased airmen reacted to the film and particularly the scene of the dead man on the beach. I know that Britain was home of the stiff upper lip but.........

Another truly great film. As an aside, the American release is titled "Stairway to Heaven"

Film Locations in Great Expectations (1946)

One of the truly great films. That opening scene in the graveyard is one of the great moments in cinema.

    Boat names unsuitable for radio

Fastnet Race 2013. I remember, on VHF, a very amusing but heated "conversation" regarding right of way between a yacht called Jazzy Jellyfish (a J109) and a fishing boat.

Is Your Boat a "She" or a "He"?

In these gender fluid times the traditional "She" could perhaps be transitioned to "He" If in Scotland the boat might decide to self transition without the consent of the owner.

As some have already pointed out, "A bonkers race" How is it a competitor can be assisted by the race organiser? Perhaps they should give tactical advice to other competitors to balance things out?

    Whipping and sealing ends

A tip. I made my own rope cutter by replacing the soldering tip with a cutting blade on a cheapo car boot rapid heat soldering iron, total cost £15. I got the cutter tip off eBay. The curved blade I find better for cloth. Some of those rapid irons have knife ends in the kit or as an extra. The...

    Whipping and sealing ends

If anyone buys or already uses an electric hot knife, be careful not to run it for long periods. The transformers in them are relatively small and will burn out if over used.

I think a full scale structural failure is unlikely. Those old boats are built like brick outhouses from solid glass. Unless those mods weakened the hull somehow. The rig size was decreased, this will reduce rig loading despite the increase in wire size.

    GGR 22

An already strong solid GRP boat was intensively rebuilt. Was it professionally overseen? It does bring into question the rules of the race, the boats are supposed to be 60 years old, or the design is. With it being rebuilt to different standards, is it still a 60 year old boat?
