I have a barton mainsheet block with a cam cleat on my Centaur.
Block is fine but the plastic cams in the cleat are worn allowing the sheet to slip under load.
Anyone know if replacement cams are available? They are beyond being able to file new grooves into them.
Not sure if its getting harder to haul the main up or I am getting weaker.
Seems to need more use of the winch to haul up the main . Slides were new at the start of this year.
Can anyone recommend something.
I just checked my PLB registration online and its all there and correct. When I registered it I remember that they were supposed to send a sticky registration label which was to be attatched to the plb.
I never got one (registered over a year ago )
Has anyone else received one and tbh I dont...
I have just filled out the UK customs and excise form . Pretty straight forward even for a dinosaur like me.
We havent sailed out of the Uk since before brexit.
I like that you can produce draft forms then edit them if neccesary before you submit them and sail.
Not so keen on only having a 2...
Anyone have any tips to removing old RNLI stickers from a glass boat window?
For some reason my boat came with a collection going back several years and the older ones are really stuck on solidly .
if you have finished a race once your bow is over the line . Is it breaking the rules if a further aft part of the boat touches the mark as you continue across the line?
If so how is a penalty taken if your time is allready recorded?
I know almost nothing about connecting electronics together.
Currently we have an icom dsc vhf which gets its gps positon from a stand alone Lowrance chart plotter mounted out in the cockpit.
I am thinking of buying a VHF with GPS and AIS built in.
Can any AIS VHF be used or would it be...
Converting our Centaur from roller to slab reefing. I like the look of the Barton kit with a short track with 2 cheek blocks on it.
But it may be cheaper / better to just rivet on a pair of cheek blocks directly to the boom?
Once set up you never need to alter the position so the track...
Our engine uses 15W40 mineral oil classified API CF.
I couldnt get the usual brand so changed to another brand with the same spec.
I now have enough left over for another oil change if I mix the two .
Can any harm occur?
Portishead Marina is having pump problems so will only be able to use locks near high water.
Until fixed the first two and last two locks of each tide wont be able to happen.
Our 12 year old clipper depth seems to work up to about 5m but then displays constantly different readings.
I have an un used spare Nasa Target transducer .Does anyone know of it will work on the Clipper display unit?
If so I will give it a try ,,You never know your luck!
Bought new in december all new in original packaging ,never been installed has a single output from the heater and a tee piece so you could heat two cabins (you would need extra ducting pipe to do that)
Seperate fuel tank and rotary control would make it simple to use.
Cost £89 yours for £60...
Not many shtered anchorages available in an easterly .On the chart the bit of beach from Aberavon to Baglan Bay looks as if it should offer shelter from East or North east wind.
Anyone tried it?
I am gathering information prior to fitting a chinese clone diesel heater in our Centaur.
I dont really want to use the supplied tank.
I can either fit a new connection to the main engine tank or I could tee off the supply pipe between tank and primary filter.
Has anyone here tried the...
If you registered a plb or epirb before the end of september you need to do it again.
Just done mine not too terrible as online form filling goes.
Strange thing is they knew all my details from the email address but I still had to fill the form in.
Before you start you need the make model and...
Derek the goose that took up residence in Watchet Marina for years has been missing for quite a while.
Locals are raising money to have a statue of her made .
At one time there was a plank floating in one corner where people would put food for her.
Watchet's missing goose Derek to get statue
After replacing the stern gland packing the gland is getting warm.
After about 2 miles at cruising speed it was quite warm ,I could keep my hand on it but warmer than before.
Measured by taping a probe thermometer to the gland it was getting up to 50 degrees C. Is this hot enough to damage...
Our boat is berthed and sailed quite a lot in Cardiff Bay which is fresh water.
We also lock out of the bay into the sea to go further afield.
The boat currently has one large zinc anode on the grp hull not wired to anything. I have just bought a set of shaft earth brushes to connect the anode...
