I am suspicious of the motives of anyone who needs to know what I wear in bunk, but the answer is usually underpants, occasionally vest as well if it's cold, when I will also have a hot water bottle. I will have a fleece top nearby for on-board nocturnal wanderings, and a 'monkey-suit' if I need to go outside.

A lot of detail there. I am suspicious of the motives of those who tell me what they wear in the bunk.

I mentioned to my Granddaughter that when sleeping aboard my boat on the swinging mooring I occasionally got cold.
Lo and behold a present of a furry onesie appeared!!! This thing is like a giant baby suit minus the built on socks. Zip up the front and covered in a sort of fleecy brown fur...
I 'aint wearing that! although I didn't tell her at the time. Folded up in a pillow case it made a decent pillow until one fateful night this November. Bloody freezing! I broke out the Teddy Bear suit and spent a warm night aboard until disaster the next morning....
About 07.30 there was a bump alongside and raised voices, without thinking I tumbled out into the cockpit to find a man and a woman in an inflatable alongside. The outboard had stopped and in desperation they had come alongside and grabbed on against the strong ebb, to be confronted by an old bloke dressed as a Teddy Bear.

Fortunately they are just friends of a local boat owner and were coming ashore after a night aboard his boat when the outboard died, so I probably won't see them again, well at least until next summer by which time they will have got over the shock of meeting a Grizzly on a swinging mooring..:ROFLMAO:

In northern France we were once berthed next to a blue ensign jobbie who appeared in a silk dressing gown with a cup and saucer.
Could have been, I suppose. As we manoeuvred past him out of a tight berth, he said to OH who had the travelling fender "tell her she did very well for a girlie". OH suggested he tell me himself if brave enough.

Some years ago a fit, sporty, friend of mine in Round Table was chartering a boat with his wife in a flottila. One night the boats broke loose & he jumped up & went on deck to sort the problem. He was having issues, but one young lady in charge of the flotilla turned up & showed him how to tie the boat up. Once sorted he went back to bed.
He thought no more of it until a group meal time ashore, when said lady described to every one how that night she had gone to the aid of a very fit, well hung, totally nude 38 year old male in the middle of the night. Being hot, he had not considered dress code & was in a panic anyway. He was the subject of some mirth from the rest of the party. However, his wife- who had slept through the entire episode, was not quite so amused.

In temperate climes I sleep in my undies - so that if called on deck in a hurry I don't wind my bits into a self tailer when carrying out some emergency manouver.

Colder climes have been known to sleep with several layers of merino thermals, gloves, and bonnet - but that isn't 'jim jams'.

Sometimes a Swedish mattress improver would be a fine thing to have aboard.
