    Straight through exhaust

Had a 37 foot Aquafibre hull with pair of Perkins M125 with straight through exhausts . Sounded amazing for the first 20 mins and then became a annoying drone. Bought a couple of generic clone waterlocks with suitable inlet/ outlet sizes to suit existing hoses. Made sure that location of...

    Snapshot of Market.

Finding the ideal boat, harder and more stressful than finding that young attractive and rich life partner with very bad eyesight. A Cynics Tale of Woe. Of the 10 boats you eventually look at 5 will be neglected heaps the owner long ago refused to spend a single farthing more , it will be...

    Snapshot of Market.

There is a dividing line somewhere when calling on your usually not very local at all VP servicing outfit to undertake simple maintainance which does not make economic sense considering boat value. Above a given price bracket would much prefer to see a bunch of eyewatering "Thank you for...

    moonraker boats

Not sure those stories about not having the best seakeeping are 100% true and perhaps propagated by rivals. Those stories about Brooms being wonderful sea kindly craft for instance. Had a Broom 37 hull moulded by Aquafibre, it was worrying hard work in any sea from a stern quarter and rolled...

    Snapshot of Market.

Aware of possibly the greatest number of boats probably and definately up for sale with brokers . Mostly between 10 -13 metres , twin flybridge diesels and command bridge Brooms all on shafts. Late 1980s to 2000s. Folks retiring due to age, some moving elsewhere, very few up grading. Looking...

    moonraker boats

Roger Moore had a Moonraker 36. Picture from Sara O Haras book IBSN 1-84280-076-0. Pretty certain there is a photo of him and a wife( Dorothy Squires ?) at some dance or other mentioned in a History of Rochester Cruising Club publication. 100 Years of RCC. aka Making The Same Mistakes...

    Nimbus 370 Commander

Always had 6 cylinder Volvo Penta engines in the past, never considered that any replacement boat in my price bracket could possibly be powered by anything else. Two things were critical in choice of next boat, no fancy electronics, no superchargers or 16 valves and proper stairs to flybridge...

Garmin 4012 Plotter. Well it was working perfectly yesterday :(

"Or do you know someone else who has an N2K network onboard, so you could connect to it to test it ? If not, you could send it to me and i can connect to N2K to check the GPS for you. No charge." Thanks Paul. We did plug it into two other boats with identical plotters, still not working. Found...

    TAMD41 Rocker wear (thankfully not!)

With the 40/41 series, just change the oil/filters on regular basis . Fleet oil and decent quality generic filters just fine. Give it a supply of clean sparkly fuel via regular change of primary / secondary filters , again generic will do the job. Dont forget on older models to change that...

    Anodes....which type ?

An interesting post for those of us who boat in "fresh " and "salt" water but moor in brackish.
