Abingdon Lock - goats v the EA

Think I would be minded to agree with the EA on this one, once everybody gets over the ooh..ahh nice goat stuff, they will basically eat and destroy the whole Island, its not agricultural land.

How to replace steering fluid on KAD32

No part 23 is the grease nipple you can see it at the bottom in the photo, worth pumping some grease in and seeing if it makes a difference. However if it hasn't been done for a while it might need new bushes which is a boat out job. I would also check the cable run as something could be...

How to replace steering fluid on KAD32

I had the same setup and it is very light on those volvos you can lock to lock with one finger, brilliant. ONly reason to go stiff if reservoir is full is mechanical issue. Have to say I only did the occasional top up in 15 years but its always dark red, also stick to DII.

Ex North Sea Trawler mooring issues

Could try contacting these guys RiverWorks Ltd. Specialists in Waterborne Construction whilst they are not based on the Tideway I'm sure they will know someone who could construct a level surface under your hull.

Ex North Sea Trawler mooring issues

If you look closely at the photo there is shale and gravel on the left side of the hull which is relatively stable, but on the right side of the hull there is soft mud and a flowing water course that has formed a trench, the hull is being undermined by the flowing water and falling into the trench.

Ex North Sea Trawler mooring issues

I'm no expert but that always going to be a problem with a drying mooring, the mud will shift and erode due to rain and current and all sorts of debris will drift in and out under the hull and cause it to tilt. I suspect the only permanent solution is to have a level drying out platform built...

Tuesday Adventure and not much else to do !

Easy, lower the canopy obviously 😀 Draft looks like the bigger issue though.

    1st outing of 2024

Great video, never seen inside Chiswick Quay Marina I assumed all the boats were held prisoners in there 😀 . Were you able to leave and come back in on the same tide?

ATYC. Rally West India Dock . 2024.

Might only be a couple of hours from Teddington but its got to be much easier to attend for you guys, its 3 days away and 3 days back for us! We would like to do it as I've not been in West India dock before, but not really worth it just for a dinner.

If you have lockers in your bathing platform - check them !

Got one of these lockers on our boat, what are they intended for? as they are always potentially wet they seem of limited use, can't even get a fender in mine

    RCC Easter Cruise.

Interested to know what is considered acceptable down there as presumably these boats weren't actually breaking the speed limit but were being inconsiderate going too fast near other boats. London VTS seem to jump on you on the radio if you try to cut a corner and stray over the centre of the...

KAD44 Gauge Temp vs ECU temp

I have KAD44's and the engine data read out is about 3-4 degC hotter compared to the analogue gauges. Seem to remember a post on here about it a few years ago and there was some suspicion the analogue to digital conversion was suspect, plus as you have stated it is reading a different sensor to...

Losing more Lockkeepers - just in time for the new season

Years ago I suspect a Lock keeper wouldn't have dreamed of taking a two week break in the middle of the busy season, however times and the EA have changed. No assistance, militant boaters, poorly maintained infrastructure, I know when I would take all my leave! :(

    Bye Bye to the Thames

Assume you mean the tidal river somewhere downstream of central London. The impression I've always got is that between Wandsworth and Sea Reach leisure craft are just a pain and the PLA and commercial craft would prefer you to just not be there :(
